There is no excuse.
I should have put it straight in the wardrobe
but I am weak
as soon as I saw the red lining
I couldn't help myself.
I did remember this ...
from "The Tailor of Gloucester" by Beatrix Potter
which was another suit made for a wedding morning.
It is not convincing but it is the best that I can come up with.
