Snapshots of Cambridge

BreadBox and I

went to the same University, at the same time

But she was a Mathematician

And I was a lowly Scientist

So we did not meet.

I hope that these pictures of a cold January afternoon

Will bring back some happy memories.

lovely photos, there's something strangely romantic about the old colleges.

I am glad it stopped raining in time for you to take the pictures.

And as for romance - my husband used to live in one of the old colleges in Oxford and was rudely awakened one night by a passing ruffian trying to post a bicycle through his window. I was stuck halfway to Summertown in a rarefied all women environment so was spared such indignity.

I remember many a cold evening sitting in front of the fire of that particular hostelry and The Fort St George and well I won't continue and show myself up too much. Daytimes were spent watching the world go by from the Copper Kettle. Oh for the life of a student again!

No. These pictures do nothing to ease my university induced psychiatric problems. And it's too early to drink.

Thanks for the pictures! Indeed, many memories flooded back all at once --- and since it is miserably rainy weather outside right here and now, I was able to recreate the cold wet rainy feel too:-)

Great shot of the entrance to Great Court!

It doesn't matter where you went to university, pictures like these bring it all flooding back.

Love them!

Tut tut, MrsM! You must never use lowly and scientist in the same sentence!

worth pointing out that US air force crews burnt their squadron and unit names/numbers onto the ceiling of the Eagle with cigarette lighters, probably zippos, in WWII. Still there today.

Say, what kind of lowly scientist were you? Also, how old are you? If you don't mind my asking...if you do then forget it. I actually had a job once where scientist was in my tittle. As far as I am concerned Scientists are just as good as Mathmeticians ...
