In which I see the future...

MasterM is considering growing a beard.

I am not sure how I feel about this.

Designer Stubble I can cope with...

but a Beard?
A Beard!!

Let me tell you straight
I am WAY TOO YOUNG
to be the mother
of a man
with a beard.

Yes, and he will INSTANTLY transform into a 70-year-old man. Chances are, he'll start sporting a monocle, too. And smoking a pipe. Enjoy!

I can only speak as a dauhter of a beardie and a wife of one too - I have to say I like them - however I have never seen my Father or dearly beloved without one - I have threatened divorce (Just as my Mother did) if he ever shaves it off.

oh no! Please tell MasterM to come to his senses and not go down the Bearded-Youth route.
In my humble opinion it is not a good look.
Although one positive thing that can be said about a beard is that you CAN SHAVE IT OFF.
Good luck MrsM xxx

At least it is MasterM not MissM - one has to be thankful for small mercies

Son no. 2 has a very full beard which took a lot of getting used to. The other three all sport designer stubble depending on how often they can be bothered to shave. I just remember their little soft baby faces...

Hear hear! as a mother of a 12, almost 13, year old who is just starting to get a tad fluffy along his top lip I find the concept fascinating although I fear I shall miss his soft baby skin as things develop - and your husband does have a point about the right candidate!

Well, it depends what sort of beard he is considering ... I once went out with someone who tried to grow a beard but it came in all patchy and he looked like he had mange - never a good look on a nineteen year old. (Can you tell it was a less than amicable breakup?!)

Some of the beards sported by the youth of today are quite lovely.

Some are not.

Stubble seems like a good compromise.

James grew a beard, but got fed up with people calling him Jesus (he had long hair at the time). It saved us a fortune in razor blades, while it lasted.

Oh no, he is so handsome the way he is. Stubble would look ok but not a beard. :)

Ahhh, yes. All young men go through the phase, don't they? My younger brother and BIL went through it a few years back. Thankfully, it didn't last. (My BIL got so tired of hearing it looked like he had a rat taped to his chin.)Have fun it with my friend! (And get LOTS of pics!!:)

I've just enjoyed my Alice fix, three posts to catch up on and how I have enjoyed them. I am still smiling at the thought of Mr M's tired fingers.

As for beards: I am married to a bearded man, every five years or so he frightens me to death my shaving it off, although come to think of it, I think perhaps he does that to make me laugh! I believe he has sported a beard since he was about 19, so be warned....

All men want to grow a beard at least once in their lifetime...just to prove it can be done.

Personally, I'd prefer not to have a full, bushy moustache after not plucking for a week.

But we can't have everything, can we?

Alice, I'm laughing SO hard!

I think it must be something that is to be experienced in every man's life!

Although, I must confess, that I am rather partial to a man with a beard!

Will it be a beard or one of those artistic little stripes of hair, or long sideburns that don't quite meet, or a circle right under his chin?

These are the things that I have seen on young people of late. I'm certain that they take a lot of maintaining...
