Shopping with MissM

MrsM
What do you think of these?
MissM
Brown gloves = farmers gloves
Orange gloves = satsuma lady
Green gloves = Jeremy Fisher

MrsM
What do you think of these?
MissM
I am not going to let you buy white gloves.
MrsM
What do you think of these?
MissM
Just creepy driving gloves with bows.
MrsM
What do you think of these?
MissM
The reason that they are limited edition
is because nobody will buy them.

MrsM
What do you...
MissM
Step away from the patent purple gloves...

Are you done fussing now?
Because you know that
you are going to buy black ones

MrsM meekly takes black gloves to the till.

So true.
I hadn't thought it all out before, but so true.

So glad you were prevented from buying the white ones!

I agree, the only gloves are black ones!
Not that I wear gloves that much, only in the snow.

Now that I thik about it, I DO have a red pair...

But if you were to buy the creepy driving gloves, you could finally get those spooky sunglasses that go only with creepy driving gloves! (Is it scary that I'm referring back to another Shopping with Miss M post you wrote months ago? I'm sorry -- it's just that it was one of my faves...)

I have a feeling Miss M would not be at all approving of my handwear wardrobe.

Let's just say, there is no black in it.

I'm afraid I'm on Ali's side of the fence when it comes to hand accessories. Nothing so cheery in the dark winter months as bright colours poking out of the ends of my admittedly black coat...

this brings me back to the last time I went shopping with my mother for a new dressing gown for her...

I took two hours for her to buy one excatly (colour, shape, brand) like the old one she had at home!!

The joy of a girlie shopping trip :o)

I think that you could really make the purple work.

PS how did you ever manage to dress yourself before you had children?

Miss M's great grandmother used to wear black gloves on the train from London because of the smuts which could blow in from the smoke of the steam engine. Just before arriving at the end of the branch line in South Devon she would change into white gloves so that she could raise her hand in acknowledgement to the stationmaster, who always raised his top hat to her in recognition of her status as the wife of an army officer fighting in the war in Burma. Sadly Dr. Beeching did not think the branch line worth preserving despite being one of the prettiest in the country crossing seventeen bridges as it meandered down a beautiful river valley. Nostalgia still keeps it open though !

My grandma ALWAYS wore gloves when she went into the city. She had a drawer full of gloves! Thanks for reminding me of that!

P.S. I can't help thinking of Anna from Sweden whose recent post showed her posing with bright yellow gloves. On Anna they looked magical and fabulously cheerful. Maybe a magpie also needs a splash of colour from time to time...even if the little chick in the nest disapproves...

Please, could MissM take charge of Tall Small's sartorial education? On a recent glove finding expedition I just about got away with buying myself purple woolly ones (I know, I know, I should have made my own). She was pushing for me to have a pair in fuchsia fun fur ...

Oh! Never rule out white gloves! They are a necessity when one is a connoisseur of fine living, such as myself.

I always wear white gloves during my weekly inspection, upon hearing the maid has finished cleaning the house.

I carefully place them on my hands, while she watches with bated breath. Then, with great precision, I run my hand along every piece of furniture in the house.

If I find even one speck of dust...one tiny speck...she will
start from the beginning--and clean the whole house over again.

White gloves can be quite useful, you see.

I think I should begin to look for my gloves. I have nothing so fancy, but they are warm and are considered "west coast granola casual"

I saw some lovely black and grey striped ones at Crew the other day. I wonder if those would be okay? K x

I find that marigolds are the most effective gloves for daily wear

Oh my goodness have I got this to look forward to? I can see Polly is on the turn already and no longer seeks Mummys approval on clothes etc. I think Miss M. sounds fun! I love leather gloves but I wear so many chunky rings they never fit over them so I end up with my old brown ones with buttons all the way up the sides. Have a good sunday! I feel like some eggs now ater seeing your fried egg post.
