A New Job

In which I am offered a job
with more money
and more responsibility
and I turn it down
because I like the job that I do
and the people that I work with.

It wasn't an easy decision.

I am sorry to hear that you were unable to take up the offer -although it was good to be chosen! Perhaps later on may be better for you.

But hopefully the right one.

Sometimes it's quite empowering to say no. Good for you!

How brave of you not to do the obvious thing but make the right choice for your own life. Much more satisfactory in the long run

not an easy decision but very probably the right one - well done for having the courage to say 'No thanks'

Im very happy you're happy where you are. That's important. Much more important that a fatter wallet. (Although it makes it harder to buy those fancy shoes, cars and mansions you're always looking at!!;)

No, of course it wouldn't be.
But just look at that woman in the illo - she's a little crazy.
We don't want that.

Oh that would have been my decision too Alice - its good to enjoy what you have isn't it. Life doesn't always have to be about more, just being happy with where you are is good sometimes (says the skint woman who's family could definitely so with more cash but that's for another day!)
Good on you Alice!

I bet it wasn't easy - but good for you for going with your feelings. Brave and wise woman!

Congratulations on making the right decision for you. That really is the hardest part. I've been dealing with similar decisions recently too.

I like the whole concept here: picture / post. I see that other people liked it too...your developing quite a fan base. It is good to challenge yourself (interview, all the things to consider forcing yourself to reflect on what you've got and what something new has to offer).

Big cheer for knowing what you want. But nice to be wanted all the same.

You totally threw my morning by not posting as early as usual! I'm a creature of habit - get up, read Magpie Files, begin day.

I think happiness in your job far outweighs monetary compensation, as long as you don't need it.

Good for you, knowing what you want!

It must have been really flattering to have been offered it!

I'm with Ali, my morning starts with reading your posts!

So funny - I am at the opposite end of the day of course so whilst dinner is cooking I often log on and look for Alice!

You are a wise and sensible woman.

It was very self aware to make that decision now, no matter how diffiuclt, rather than three months down the track.

Hard decision, maybe, but a good one, nevertheless. Congrats on your old job :)

Oh Alice - I lapse in my reading over half-term (shameful, I know - those pesky children!) and find 6 wonderful posts to come back to - not least full of the news about the job that I was wondering whether you had been offered. Firstly, well done, you clever bean, for obviously giving such a good interview and being all round fantastic. But what strength of character to know that you are happiest where you are, and for being able to see that a new venture isn't always necessarily a better one. That must have been a really difficult decision. As Alice says, congratulations on your old job! x
