Group Hug

My Favourite Half Term Photo.

*****

Thank you all
for your very entertaining comments yesterday
which kept us mightily amused
as we drove up and down numerous motorways.

It was a very special day for our family
- more about the celebrations tomorrow -
but right now the house is strangely quiet
and the huge pile of shoes has disappeared
because half term has come to an end.

I miss them already,
my untidy teenagers,
who make me laugh
and force me to think fast.

You will be relieved to know that
the Raspberry Trifle has been approved
and will now be referred to as
The Non-Traditional Trifle.

Your comments were down when I tried to warn you not to change the trifle.

I won't be held responsible for whatever occurs.

That's a sweet photo -

Quiet?

What is this thing, quiet, that you speak of? ;)

You give me vast amounts of hope.

I know that feeling. Turn your music up loud, dance wildly and it almost feels like they are home.

with silver balls...

the silver balls are critical I think.

I love the conversations your family has that you post. You are all quite witty. :)

Maybe I'm just hormonal, but your combo of spare-but-effective words plus photo made ME miss them, too. It even made me miss MY children in advance, and they're only 3 and 10! Sigh...

(Still chortling about Carolyn's "greedy blighters" comment from the trifle post...)

I was feeling a bit wistful for you, then I read Carrie's comment and snorted with recognition.

Only a few weeks till the summer holidays! What a lovely photo; best wishes to your two for what promises to be a very busy half term!

We have an inset day today so mine are being cheerleaders. Fancy popping over to Cambridge for tea?

I am confused. You have half term in the beginning of June? When do you break for summer? My children and husband have basically 3 weeks left and then they are off until September....

I am glad you had such a wonderful time. sorry about the quiet. It is hard to get used to.

I hope the trifle was as good as it looked.

I was thinking they must wear ALL their shoes to school on one day to leave the whole house bare...but then realised that they must board away from home...poor you, you must feel so bereft when they go.

Miss M is very clever indeed, for I have no idea where on the calendar solstice falls...how do people know things like that?!

I'd like a piece of that non-traditional trifle right about now...

I love your trifle post and I'm glad to hear that family traditions are not so entrenched that a little ammendment isn't out of the question! That raspberry one looks wonderful but then I bet the mango one is pretty special too! Hope you have a lovely 'special day' tomorrow.

I have missed alot!! I either get an error when I try to view your blog, or an error when I try to comment! And I miss out on those witty family conversations. Great posts Alice, and congrats to your FIL. What an honor to celebrate him and his dedicated life.
