The Open Door

You can walk through a door every day,
in and out,
doing the things that you do,
not even seeing the door.
And then one day you will walk through it
for the last time
You probably won't even notice
because the world is waiting outside the door
and you are in a hurry to get with your life.

*****

MasterM leaves school today.
There is a Commemoration Service, Prizegiving,
Garden Party and Leavers' Ball.
On Monday he wore his school uniform
for the last time;
I thought that I would feel sad
but he looked too large for it.

I hope that the world is ready for him.

It is the most exciting time of their lives. They feel ready for anything.

It is a time of deep reflection for you. Enjoy his successes, prop him up when he needs it and always feel priviledged to be included in his life.

One day he'll look back and know how lucky he is to have you too.

Tracey has said it all so well.

That door is one my Will shall walk through in 6 years - I am only too conscious of how fast that time will fly.

Congratulations to Master M - make your parents proud but most of all to your own self be true.

I'm sure the world will be a better place with Master M in it - although I think you know that.
I hope you all have a lovely day and evening.

Oh good luck to Master M in all his new ventures. I loved reading this post and it rang true for me...the other day I became aware that it won't be long until we stop using our pushchair completely and I suddenly wondered if I will realise that it is the 'last time' when it is the last time that I push it...or whether one day I will just notice that we haven't used it for so long and take it to the tip. Either way I'm not sure I feel ready to be without it and all that it symbolises...you are doing brilliantly in moving with your children and looking forward to all that lies before them - what a lovely mummy you are. x

Oh the glorious sense of possibilities. I'm sure the world is going to treat Master M very well indeed.

But I'm sure in later life he will be very grateful to his parents for the time spent on this side of the door.

The sad thing is, none of us really realise what an awfully big adventure awaited us until it has gone forever. Have a fantastic journey, Master M!

Good luck to Master M, you may be walking through that door but it will never close behind you so go grab that world knowing that there is always a safe haven at your back.
