Twice as Nice

What could be nicer than lunch with MissM?

Lunch with MissM and her friend the Sassy MissS...

Imagine my quiet pleasure to hear them
analyse the American election;
review the results on a state by state basis
and put the outcome into a historical context.
They may be only 16 but the decisions of President Obama
will shape the world of their adulthood.
They are watching with interest.

And then after Semi-Freddo Profiteroles
we go shopping
and MrsM and MissM check out the usual suspects
French Connection dresses,
Office shoes
and Links jewellery.
MissS is extraordinarly patient
and if she hadn't been there
we wouldn't have even considered the silver mascara.

And yes...I am still on my Reading week...
but I have things I need to say...
all the posts are starting to spill over the edge again...
just ignore me...

I am so inspired by the fact that so many people outside of the US watched the election with such interest! I think about my 2 1/2 month old girl and wonder if she will be so civic-minded when she is a teenager. Let's hope!

What would life be without silver mascara? (Please apologize to Miss M and the Sassy Miss S for my particular state's behavior in the election...)

I'm not surprised the 16yos are interested - my 10yo was home sick on election day and was GLUED to the coverage. Why are those States red mummy? Why don't they want Obama?

I teach 16 year olds and they were fascinated by the election, even though they did not really understand the true impact...

This is so superficial but silver mascara sounds fantastic!

Thank goodness you still have things to say, Alice. I don't think many of us could handle a whole week without our Magpie fix.

I start getting all jittery just thinking about it.

I played with an orange sparkly eyeliner the other day at Superdrug (well worth a visit). I walked out looking most peculiar (please know I don't 'do' make-up). But Pr.C-W thought it a hoot when she came home from school!

It's so nice to hear so many people so interested in the election. And on a slightly more superficial note, I love the dress and shoes--gorgeous! K x

It's wonderful that young people have been so interested in this election and seem so well informed. Love the idea of silver mascara!

It is easy to talk, but difficult to listen.

I love to listen to the conversations of teenagers. This is when you see their views have not been touched by the cynicism that afflicts so many.

The only thing nicer, for me, would be lunch with Cousin E - who told me she's pregnant!

Sounds like a really fun day!

How are you liking the mascara? :)

Silver mascara hasn't hit the scene here yet (not Sarah, she's far too conventional) but Louise has made the important purchase of some orange eyeliner :o( - she can't understand why I think it makes her look like she has some dreadful affliction of the eyelids! The election was closely followed and discussed by all age groups in our house too - my three were all acutely aware that they were seeing history unfold in their own lifetime - an awesome thing to watch from a parents perspective

It was watched with keen interest in our household as well. Aden and Ethan accompanied us to the voting booth and Aden was ever so excited, particularly when her guy won! :)
