Sweet Violets

The honeysuckle waits
For Summer and for heat
But violets in the chilly Spring
Make the turf so sweet.

a Nursery Rhyme Book (before 1873)

That's a very nice, gentle touch after all that business in the stadium.
I feel a little better now.

We're still a good month away from our turf looking like this. Beautiful picture. And I love the bit of rhyme. Our children's choir is singing an anthem Easter Sunday of one of Christina Rosetti's texts: An Easter Carol. I didn't know anything about her (never realized she wrote In the Bleak Midwinter), so thanks for the link! I'm a little bit wiser now - at least until this latest info fades from my brain.

I adore violets. But they don't grow here :(
Thanks for the lovely photo!
