Today, my thoughts are with all my friends
who are proud Americans,
at home and abroad.
Capitol Hill 2009
It is a privilege to watch
this great celebration of democracy
on Capitol Hill.

Thank you, Alice. We have dug out the rabbit ears in order to have a functioning television for the big event. As my 76-year-old dad said yesterday, "It's still just all so surreal." Happy, happy day.
Gosh! it doesn't half look different these days! in all sorts of ways too! I hope today marks a new era for all of the world. Happy day indeed!x
A momentous day for Americans and the world.
As an almost 50year old I just didn't think I'd ever see this in my own lifetime - and explaining this to my own kids was all the more incredible. I so hope he can achieve all he hopes to do
Thank you Alice! It was a great day for our country, and for the world. I was a very proud American today.
I've been glued to the TV all evening. But I do have to admit to shallow thoughts, not befitting such a momentous occasion (like who thought that big bow on Aretha Franklin's head would be a good idea?)
Thank you so much, Alice! One of the many wonderful things about this day has been the many messages of heartfelt congratulations and shared good wishes from people around the world. :)
A once and future country, we are. Finally, we have a President again:-)

I am laughing too hard at Ali's comment that I cannot think of an appropriately solemn response
Thanks Alice. We spent the day watching tv and feeling inspired. I haven't felt that way about politics...ever. And Aden made her own signs to wave at the new president, she's been very happy and excited about this whole process.
