News from Buenos Aires

...and so I saw these two great fish and I HAD to have them and so I bought a fish tank. When I got them back to the flat I didn't have anything to fill the tank with so I just used a saucepan. It took a while but when it was full I switched on the bubble making machine and it looked so cool and I put the fish in. Then there was this awful cracking sound and the leg on the table collapsed and the fish tank fell on the floor and smashed to smithereens. Not a good moment. And I had to rescue Aztec and Inca (that's what the fish are called) and so I am trying to pick them up and put them in the saucepan but they are all slippery and there is water and glass everywhere. And then I have to get a teaspoon and pick up all the gravel which you need at the bottom of the tank and I put that in the fruit bowl. And it was really sad because the little china tree that hides the bubble making machine was all broken. And the awful thing was that I didn't have a brush or anything so I had to leave it all for the cleaning lady...but don't worry about Aztec and Inca - they are fine - I got a new tank and it is on the bookcase. I don't think they are too traumatised - they are just taking it one day at a time. I just saw a catfish in the shop which I am quite tempted by - I could call him Puma ... or maybe Marco...

Oh My gosh! That is soooo funny! Where does he come up with those things,"I didn't think they were too traumatized"

I really miss MasterM. I bet you and MrM got a howl out of that story! :)

this is hilarious! I would have freaked out far more than he did though!

I absolutely HATE it when that happens.

(My favorite part is the fish taking it one day at a time. I think maybe Master M needs to be a children's book author. Or a grown-up book author. Or at the very least, a blogger. Which I guess he is, via you...)

Hoorah for robust fish! Especially ones who take it one day at a time.

He's quite a home maker, Alice.

from the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli ...

these little fishes are real Marines and troopers to the corps !

Sounds like a slice of life reality to me.

That Master M is quite the story-teller. I'll bet he keeps you very entertained...must be the Irish in him.

are we having a whip round for a replacement china tree?

I would hate him to be sad

I trust they aren't those fish with the bubble eyes: that could be quite a liability when lying amongst broken glass.

That raised a smile - perhaps a fish counsellor is required?

I got a terrible fright when your blog appeared on the screen and I saw that big block of text. I thought "Someone has hijacked Alice's blog!" I hadn't realised until today how your poetically structured words and photographs have become my comfort zone and my natural expectation when visiting you. How interesting.

And how funny to see Fifi pop up in a commentbox the minute fish are mentioned. It's like Coffeelady...sometimes I like to just mention a latte or a cappucino for the joy of seeing her little avatar immediately pop up in my commentbox.

I was very anxious when I read the word saucepan and was relieved to get to the end and find out that they were no longer in danger of being accidentally cooked.
