You can reach Penberth by sea or by road
or by steep cliffside paths.
If you walk down through the valley
on the narrow road
you will hear only the sound of the stream
as it plunges between trees
and soft areas of tiny white daffodils.
There are wild violets
and fern fronds beginning to uncurl.
Do you love this house? I do!
It is beside the road
but I don't think that I would mind.
It is a very beautiful road
and leads to the sea
where winding gear pulls small boats
onto the safety of the cobbled slipway.
Somewhere on this road
I laid down my burden of sadness.
It didn't seem worth the effort
of carrying it up the steep path
to the gorse-gold cliffs.

Lovely. I like how we are synchronised...I stay up late. Juat late enough to catch the early edition of the Magpie Files. I hope your burden stayed down there.
Is it Poppy ?
Its understandable.
That should be 'just'.
(Its late)
There can be no sadness behind your sensitive camera lens, just a sense of peace and calm.
Those photographs were worth waiting a couple of week for....
That's beautiful - both the pictures and the writing.
I am fully prepared to come visit you at that house, if you "consenta" (my word verification).
Lovely! The photos are a delight, especially the unfurling fronds.
Gorgeous! I think I might have to move into that cottage too! Sounds like you had a lovely break. x
Wonderful seeing 'my patch' through your eyes!
Very lovely photos. I hope all is well, and your sadness stays where you left it.
I need some Cornwall. Some sea air.
Beautiful!

Here's hoping you forgot and left the sadness right there.
What a beautiful walk, thank you for taking me to such an out of the way place...I never would have found myself...
Happy days
Oh Alice, such beautiful words and I hope you left that burden down there, ready for the wind to blow it away.

i hope your burden of sadness has gone.
I love that place so much.
So glad to hear the sadness has been left behind. I hope it doesn't try to come home on its own. Great to have you back too. I've missed you.
Love the fern fiddleheads.
Love the thatched roof.
Penberth looks lovely.
