The Precinct Walls

It was the toadflax that started it;
tiny lavender flecks clinging to grey stone

and then there was the lilac,
heavy scented in the still air.

My husband and daughter waited patiently
as I climbed on a bench to photograph forget-me-not

and leaned over old railings
to capture pale magnolia.

I know now that was all leading up
to this one perfect moment:

then I put my camera away...
I was done.

Pretty! The sky is so blue, I love purple flowers. I can not resist them.

It's so nice to enjoy a preview of good things to come. Your season is well ahead of ours, but here the red maples are blooming and the bloodroot is up, and at the lower elevations, the willow has turned that startling shade of yellow-green as bright as a crayon.

Even if we get more snow - and we may...Spring has arrived!

More coffee table photos (I never knew that sweet little plant is called toadflax btw) You really should publish a book. (The Irish game was awesome too - didn't spot Mr M but had a quick chat with Craig Doyle - swoon)

I agree with you. It makes me think of a secret garden and that valiant knight trying to scale the wall.

So glad I'm not the only one to embarrass the family by crawling and stretching in an effort to get the perfect photo.
