Powder Puffs and Persian Carpets

If I stand at my kitchen door

these are the flowers

that I can photograph today.

The early daffodils have finished, battered by wind and rain.

It is time for the first tulips

and the heady scent of wallflowers.

The single Fritillary is much cherished.

The fritillary is a flower that I don't know. It is just beautiful. It looks like it is woven and checked.

Nature astounds me!

That last one is simply stunning! Thank you, I needed a little perking up as it rained nearly all day here . . . good for flowers, right? :)

I love fritillaries, especially the way they make you get so close to the ground to see just how lovely they are.

9 degrees here.

I want to put the coats in the closet.

It is 1 degree here. I woke to my car completely frosted over. I am not impressed. Your photos, on the other hand are lovely.

I'd just like to know where you found the sun!

Your floral pictures are gorgeous! When I first discovered the fritillary flower I could not believe the checkerboard design. It looks like someone painted the design on the flower.

Great blog!!

I don't think I've ever seen a fritillary. It is just lovely - and such a good example of a name matching the flower!

Thanks so much for sharing these lovely flowers Alice. My garden is at the beginning stage but I have unearthed some primroses. I hope next spring I'll be able to record some pretty flowers like yours.
They've made my day.

Lovely photos. My favourite would have to be the Fritillaria.

You are so lucky. The snow is starting to melt here but the weather is unpredictable. Right now sunshine and 40's and the robins are back. Everything is still frozen though.
