The Window Closes

I read somewhere about a doctor who wrote poetry.
He scribbled the poems on the back of prescriptions
as he waited in his surgery for each patient.

That is what blogging is like for me.
I write in small slivers of time.

But now other things demand my full attention
even in those tiny fragments of time
that I had thought were my own.

I must turn away from my window for a while
although it is hard to do so.

I know that you will understand.

Oh, Alice, I'll miss you heaps, and I hope that whatever is pulling you away is just life's fullness and not something grave. Will hope that you might "accidentally" have a chance to post now and again. I'll be saving up for that lavender-clad monastic retreat in France...

I felt this coming - not in a bad way or a good way...I just knew.
But I don't know that all is well with you and yours and can only hope it is - that you are terribly busy.

I will miss you so much - but totally understand of course.

I need to see if I responded to your last email - I had it all written in my head but not sure if I sent it - will check now!

Some wise woman (I think it was you) said blogs follow life.

Better to have the courage to step away for a while.

But my morning routine is buggered.

I'll miss your daily musings Alice, like Ali they give a perspective to my day.

I hope you find sometime for yourself, if not to blog then at least to reflect on all the things that happen in your lovely family.

and I hope this doesn't mean we can't ever get together for a great Northern bloggers cup of tea and cake.......

take care. x

Your window will still be here when you fell the need to record those slivers again.

I will miss you too. Thank you for the quiet beauty that you have shared with us and I hope that it will not be too long before the window is opened once more.
Wishing you all good things
:o)

I wonder which did more good - the poems or the prescriptions?

Take care - be happy.

Oh dear. I'll restrain myself....
when really what I want to do is open wide that window, and scream "NOOOOOOOO....."
Good luck with everything... and do email us all if you're coming back: we'll bake you a virtual cake and throw you a big Prodigal Magpie Party!

Along with others I will miss you too but it is a good thing to be able to step back when necessary. Hope all is well and you will come back - even if only occasionally.

Oh- yes. I will miss you too. But, as with BB - I had a strange sense about this. Take care.

I will miss your daily musings more than words can say. I hope that it is just the start of a new term that is occupying all your thoughts and that you will come back to your window and shake a duster out from time to time.

Alice, even when you post a short good-bye, you are terribly eloquent.

Perhaps now's the chance to revisit some of your past posts...

I'm going to miss your posts so, so much. But maybe this just means we'll have even more to talk about when we finally manage to meet up at Petersham :) K x

Alice, your daily posts will be sorely missed, but of course it goes without saying that I understand totally.

And it also goes without saying that I will still check your blog every single morning (as I always do), waiting for your return.

Come back when the time is right, I'll be here.

I will be calling by to look up at the window, i do like it ere, it is always restful, pretty, or fragrant, and often both.
You do seem to conjure up the whole picture.

Did you open a restaurant?

all the best from me.

Oh, Alice! You are one of the main influences that got me started blogging, and I'm so grateful to you for all your encouragement! It's been a pleasure reading your exquisite words and seeing your beautiful pictures. All the best as something else takes up those slivers of your life that we enjoyed so much. Love, Ginnie
