The last day of the month

March is normally a good month for me:
birthdays, spring flowers, longer days.
This year, not so much.

I know that we have been away
and I am grateful for those opportunities
but I am missing Poppy
and the quiet morning walks.

I am also aware of all the things
that I have given up
to make my not-so-new job possible:
photography, gardening, writing;
all things that are important to me
and make me tick as a person.
I feel as though my world has shrunk
so that I alternate between two work locations:
house and office.

I know that I have to find ways
to recapture the pleasures that I took for granted
and the life that made me happy.

I'm having a rest and a think.
See y'all after Easter

The opportunity cost is a blow below the belt. Hang in there - the pleasures will return.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy - take time out to spend on yourself Alice, you deserve it

and don't forget the healing powers of chocolate - which happens to be in season at the moment xx

Hang on there, Alice. Pressing pause and taking a deep breath or two can be very restorative. And I know exactly what you mean about those quiet walks first thing, too.
Hugs, D x

Ps sorry I deleted...made the most appalling spelling mistake, couldn't see it published!!

Alice - these could be my words over the past few months. I love teaching but so much seems to have gone by the wayside lately, in particular my garden. Have a good rest.

Having to recapture happiness, on a rather regular basis, has been one of the surprises of my forties (and now fifty!).

There are always new changes to adjust to, and our foundations sometimes shifting (or so I have found).

I wish you so well with finding your new rhythm for this season of your life.

We shall miss you Alice but you sound in need of some rest and recuperation. We will wait for you. Take care and take the time to do some things for yourself.

Alice, I'm sorry March was such a difficult month. I know how much Poppy meant to you--how close she was at all times. I hope you're finding peace in all the happy memories you have of the time you had with her. She was a good dog.

As far as the rest is concerned...I'm certain you'll find a way to balance those things that are an important part of your life with your work. It's good that you know photography, gardening and writing are what make you happy. You do them all very well.

Enjoy your time away. Rest. I'll be checking in soon to see how you're doing.

Alice I am thinking of you and hoping you are enjoying a well earned break from the trials and strains of being a Working Woman. I'm not sure what to say as my experience of inhabiting the world of Paid Employment is limited and seems so far in the past...and life was so different pre-children wasn't it?

Hoping you manage to restore some balance to your life, to find some peace.
Lots of love to you, and a happy easter

Have a wonderful and restorative break Alice. Enjoy the time to think and be still. Enjoy some of the brown stuff - it's officially a bringer of smiles. Emma x
