Reasons to be Cheerful

I have a very small kitchen but I love it.

It is 8pm on Monday night,
the supper is cooked
and I am waiting for MrM to come home.
I realise how happy I am,
just at that moment,
surrounded by my favourite things.

1. My saucepans
Cherry Red Le Creuset
A wedding gift from MrM's grandmother.

2. A bright orange arrangement
A cheerful Kalanchoe,
a citrus candle
and MissM's handpainted cat
with the lime green eyes.

3. Dark green broccoli
I am good at cooking broccoli;
Even my son has mentioned it.

4. Blue Spode mugs
The Spring collection
with roses, rabbits and elephants.

5. My new jug with red hearts
A Christmas present from MasterM
(which was chosen
with the help of the Lovely MissE.)

And then,
just as I am taking this photo
there is a knock at the door,
and MrM is home
at the end of a long day.

And that is the best reason of all to be cheerful.

I must thank Steph from Curlew Country
whose delightful post inspired these thoughts.

It may be a small kitchen but it is perfectly formed.

Life is easy when you can take such joy in your surroundings.

It IS a lovely little kitchen. And I've noted that it is the acme of minimalism, as is mine.

I was sitting in my dining room yesterday, at the other end of the table and I said, out loud: I love this place.
But I still needed to make dinner and K came home cranky.

Your kitchen looks a wonderfully cosy place...and what a lovely young man to comment so sweetly on your broccoli. Off to read Steph's post now. Hope supper was delicious! x

It is not an exaggeration to say that I married MrsM for her ability with broccoli. Other than that she is of course a very fruity person.

Love seeing a slice of your cozy kitchen, MrsM! That MrM is a lucky man.

Your kitchen is indeed lovely! My broccoli cooking is variable at best - but I am good at roast potatoes.

I killed my Le Creuset wedding present casserole at Christmas. I didn't think it was possible but all the enamelling started to come off :-(
