Self-heal

Prunella vulgaris

I would not have noticed this flower in the summer.
The deep purple is easily absorbed
in the shadows under the trees
and it is so small that you could tread on it
without realising what you have done.
Now, it is the only flower that I see
and it gives me great pleasure.

Do you want to know why I write this blog?
It is because I feel I must.

Sometimes I long for a break
and I wish I could go back to the pre-blog time.
But I feel compelled to continue.
The things that I need to write about
queue up and jostle for space in my brain.

Each post takes a very short time
because it is there before I write it.
And then there is a sense of relief
as though I am on a journey
and another step
has been taken.

In each post I see something new
in isolation,
by itself.
I can think about that one thing
and appreciate it.

And be grateful.

Take it where you can find it. If it fulfills a need in you, then it has a purpose.

Exactly what Tracey said...

'think about one thing and appreciate it' - yes. That's a good thing.

And I am very glad you feel compelled.

I'm glad, too, Alice! You have such a wonderful eye and a great way of capturing so much in so few words. It's always a pleasure to see what's new.

I'm glad you need to write, visiting your blog is a high point in my day (as I think you know ;-). I'm impressed you wrote so frequently - I can't!

Welcome RW - and thank you for your generous compliment.

I often wonder what it was you read in my blog that gave you the push you needed to start your own. Yours seems so much more sophisticated than mine...you seem so much more sophisticated! And it seems to come so natural to you, like you've been doing it for years. All I know is, I'm glad you are. I'm glad you're finding ways to appreciate all that is around you through the lens, through the blog. I am too. And there are days when the lens is the only way to find the way to those discoveries...when I am bogged down by everything else.
