In The Rose Garden

We had tea on the terrace;
freshly baked scones
tiny pastries.

Then we walked over the moat
to the rose garden.

Pillars and swags wrapped
with the soft colours of early summer:

blush
ivory
shell

Wide banks of cat-mint
fluttering with butterflies

Enclosed by clipped hedges
and tall pastel foxgloves.

Is there a more pleasant way
to spend an afternoon?

I think not.

Ooh, it's my dream world! Kind of like the mosquito-free, weedless, perfectly manicured, intentional, very linear version of my own garden. Oh, okay. Not really like my own garden at all...

I would totally agree - beautiful photos, is it somewhere open to the public?

Who knew blush, ivory and shell could be amongst my favourite colours?

I would certainly have got sunburn. Best to stay inside.

Painted ladies. Foxgloves. Beautiful.

MissM is a runner up. What a pleasing way to start a weekend. I need to know her favourite colours from amongst my jewels.

Oh what a beautiful garden! Tea and scones makes it even better!

That's exactly how I'd imagine an afternoon tea in an English garden.

What a gorgeous looking garden.

Tea was definately the best thing to have in a place like that

Oh I felt like I was there with you, strolling and sipping tea (not at the same time, obvs).

It is like a dream--perhaps the "Secret Garden" Sometimes your prose is just so lyrical . . .
